Parking spot fight in Augusta leads to hospital stay

A fight over a parking spot led to a hospital stay Wednesday.

Police were called to the 3100 block of Parrish Road about 5:15 p.m. where witnesses said Connie Woods, 33, had become increasingly violent after having an argument with another woman over a parking space at their apartment complex.

The victim told police she grabbed a baseball bat from her car for protection. Witnesses said Woods then swung at the victim and in doing so was hit in the head with the bat. She then ran into her apartment, according to an incident report.

The officer, who attempted to approach Woods at her apartment, reported she ran toward him covered in blood from a cut on her forehead and began shouting obscenities. Woods, who police said was intoxicated, swung at the deputy before falling into a wood coffee table.

Woods was transported to the hospital at her request.

According to the report, the officer did not file charges of obstruction on Woods because of her high level of intoxication, her injuries and lack of danger to the officer.

The victim also declined to prosecute.

Later, police were called to Doctor’s Hospital where Woods said she had been assaulted and robbed by several men.
