Hephzibah bank robbed Friday


Police are on the scene of a bank robbery at Southern Bank in Hephzibah.

The robbery at 2455 Highway 88 was reported around 3:10 p.m. No weapons were brandished.

A black male, who was dressed in blue or black jeans with an orange design on the pocket, fled with the stolen money in a gold or light brown 2000 Honda Accord. He was last seen heading east on Highway 88.

Police said a red dye pack in the money has exploded and the dye is possibly on the bandit.

The bank has been robbed numerous times, but most recently on Oct. 28, 2013.
