Four people were hospitalized early Sunday after a shooting at a party venue on Highway 80 in Burke County.

Shots rang out about 1:30 a.m. at what Burke County sheriff’s Sgt. Dedric Smith described as a repurposed automotive shop. There were about 150 to 200 people inside at the time, he said.

“At this point in time, we believe there were several people shooting,” Smith said.

The victims were taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center, Smith said. One has since been released. The sheriff’s office has not identified any victims or suspects.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Waynesboro Police Department are assisting in the investigation.

It would be nice if we had a description of where this place is, so we can avoid it.

Re-purposed?

This is becoming more and more common.

There's a little shack on Hwy 28, near the intersection of Hwy 221, where peeps hang out and purport to be law-abiding citizens. You know, an old gas station that that has been "re-purposed" to give trash a place to hang out. Lawlessness, fires in trash cans, obvious tire scorch marks (numerous) in the middle of a major road. Sounds similar. Welcome to BRA.

Come on, I seriously doubt you would ever be within 20 miles of this place, much less Burke County. You make me chuckle.

But I agree, a closer proximity would be helpful, as I do stomp around in them there parts from time to time.

You do make me smile, Lambster.....

Yep, I can see you and your better half driving along Highway 80 and one of you comments, "Hey, that looks like a nice place to get some dinner". (:

griff is probably right!

There was mention of Gough in the TV reports. And yes there was an auto repair shop at the intersection of Highway 80 WEST and the Gough Spur. On Google maps Highway 80 is called George Massey Road. Also, the other side of the intersection of the Gough Spur is Gough Red Hill Rd.

God's country to me! Corn, cotton, peanuts, wheat and :( gnats! LOL!
