A 33-year-old woman has been charged after leaving four children in a bug-infested and feces-covered home with no food for two days, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Bethany Schubert was booked into the Richmond County jail with four counts of deprivation of a minor. SPECIAL

The suspect’s sister called police to the home in the 300 block of Barbara Road at 9:30 a.m. Thursday to check on the children. The woman told sheriff’s deputies she had previously reported her sister, Bethany Schubert, to the Department of Family and Children Services because she has a drug abuse problem and constantly leaves her eight children home unsupervised.

A deputy discovered the home unlocked with four unsupervised children between the ages of 5 and 14. A police report described the home as “bug infested,” with piles of dirty laundry, trash, dirt and hair throughout, with dog feces and urine on the bedroom floor. The only food in the residence was three thin slices of ham, mayonnaise and sugar.

The 14-year-old told police he had last seen his mother about 7 p.m. Tuesday.

A deputy located Schubert at a residence across the street, where she was staying with her boyfriend. Although the officer announced his presence to a man at the home, the report states he was not allowed inside until the homeowner arrived three hours later. Two of Schubert’s other children, ages 3 and 4, were discovered sleeping on the floor.

Schubert was booked into the Richmond County jail with four counts of deprivation of a minor. DFCS released her eight children, ages 3 months to 14, to her sister. Animal Control responded and took Schubert’s three dogs at her request.

Snatch these kids up and put

Snatch these kids up and put them with family or foster care. Anything is better than living in these conditions with a worthless addict.

She doesn't deserve to be

She doesn't deserve to be referenced as a "mother". She's an egg donor - nothing more.

Just be careful with those precious children!

DFCS does not have a good track record. DFCS is probably the only choice but the Sister should keep track of the children because DFCS places children with relatives and others and these places are often not appropriate.

At least two children in the past year have died because of DFCS's mismanagement.

Watch them!

No Way

can anybody make an descriptive comment on this piece of non-human feces without being ban from AC for life.
My only thoughts and I cry when I think about it, the children involved and the life they have experience since they were so unfortunately brought into this world. God, please provide the love and support to make them forget the hell they known.

By the looks of her it is a good bet she wasn't smoking pot but probably doing meth. Not that anyone posted about legalizing drugs but this could be what Corgi is referring to. I will say from people I have seen go downhill on drugs it all started with smoking pot then that got old so they needed stronger drugs to fuel their addiction. I can't understand how she had eight kids and no one knew she was on drugs when she birthed these kids (prenatal doctor or delivering doctor???) It shouldn't have taken over 14 years for this to be caught. Did anyone catch that the last one was just three months old???? Who had that child the sister? So sad.

What a sick individual.

What a sick individual. Definitely doesn't deserve to live a free life because she ruined 8 other lives.

Hopefully there will be someone to step up to the plate and help take care of these kids so that they will have a better life.

It looks like she was on meth (hate to judge by one picture but...) and I know some weed smokers and they don't do any other drugs (except cigarettes and alcohol).

The 8 children have different

The 8 children have different fathers and some are unknown. This girl has always been this way. My question is.... Who is helping her sister? Why in the world would you release 8 children to one person? The sister has her own and now + 8 more!!!! Does she have the food and space to care for them??

We need this again,

http://openjurist.org/560/f2d/609/walker-v-h-pierce

Dr Pierce was of the opinion that if you could not afford the children, taxpayers should not have to continue paying for you to keep on having them. One of the plaintiffs had had 3, the other 4. The court found for him in one case and against him in the other. Damages were set at $5.00 (five).

I agree these kids need love and support, but I think calling the person who brought them into the world "a piece of non-human feces" is counter productive. It has been shown that for good or bad, children's identity is tied into who their parents are. Most children hold ambivalent feelings towards their parents in spite of the horrendous acts committed against the children. Time and lots of therapy can begin to undo this.

SCUM

This scum of a woman needs to be forced to be sterilized. The taxpayers shouldn't have to keep supporting her drug habit. You can bet all the welfare benefits she gets goes directly to her dealer. She sure isn't spending it the way it was intended.

Drug testing

Drug testing for anyone on public assistance will help solve this problem. Blame the libs for holding this legislation up.

Drug testing for public

Drug testing for public $$$

And while we are at it, require drug testing for college students who receive Hope Scholarship and Grant. Fail the pee test, no Hope $$$. That will keep the program solvent. Hope Scholarship and Grant are a form of public assistance.

And do not forget to test the state legislators. They get public monies, too.

Let's be consistent.

I agree

Truth Matters, I am with you 100% on this. That may be why the politicians will not pass this legislation. They know they (Not all of them) can not pass a pee test. Most all Companies now require a drug screen. I work in a menial part-time job and I have to take a drug test.
