Joseph Gaines, 74, was discovered by deputies in his home on the 3800 block of Old Waynesboro Road around 2 a.m. with a gunshot wound to the thigh.

Annie Gaines was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during a crime.

According to a police report, the couple have been married for 50 years during which time Joseph Gaines had several affairs and children outside the marriage.

The shooting occurred shortly after the funeral for one of his children.

Annie Gaines told police she was upset about the affairs, the other children and that her husband had ignored her during the funeral.

“I wasn’t trying to kill him,” she told police. “I was just gonna remind him that I’m still here.”

Joseph Gaines was treated at Georgia Regents Medical Center for injuries that did not appear to be life threatening, police said.

50 YEARS
Unpublished

Why on earth would this woman stay married to a man for 50 years that's repeatedly cheated on her and fathered children out of their marriage? Lady you should have kicked him to the curb years ago.

The neighbors are getting rowdy out here.

Married 50 years. Numerous affairs and children by other women....and she gets mad because he ignores her at a funeral. You just never know what's going to set a woman off.

KSL I bet she was aiming for his _ _ _ _ _

Just think about the reason why she shot him and how close his thigh was to his _ _ _ _ _. She missed her chance tho. That lucky man gets to use it for another day!
