Police have arrested a Hephzibah man and teenager who they say robbed an Augusta restaurant and shot an employee in the leg Sunday.

Fredrick Jamal Bolden, 23, of Prescott Place, and Deandre Malik Scott, 15, of Windsor Spring Road, face charges of felony armed robbery, according to Richmond County jail records. Bolden faces additional felony charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

About 7:50 p.m. Sunday, two armed men entered the KFC restaurant at 2029 Windsor Spring Road and demanded money from the cash register, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

Witnesses told police that one of the men fired a shot before leaping over the counter and approaching the drive-through window.

The man approached an employee and demanded money. When the employee refused, the gunman shot him once in the left knee.

The two fled with cash and were last seen running toward a nearby McDonald’s parking lot. Bolden was detained about an hour later trying to enter a car in the parking lot.

The KFC employee was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center to receive treatment for injuries that weren’t life-threatening.

Nothing good comes of a 15

Nothing good comes of a 15 year old hanging out with a 23 year old. Too bad Deandre's parents didn't keep better track of who he was hanging out with.

Dichotomy

Sure, just kill these two young men. Please stop and reflect on that. I am by no means defending what they allegedly did. But I would almost guarantee you that these kids grew up in an environment so foreign to you and me that we can not begin to understand. But for God's grace, I could have been born into those circumstances. So should they be punished? Of course. Society can not tolerate such behavior. But kill them? Good grief. So much for our Christian values.

@billcass - Last Chance

What I have suggested in the past is that we create "Last Chance". Clean out (by whatever means) the inhabitants of one of our SuperMax prisons. Turn it into a Trade School. Look @ the job openings nationwide, and pick four trades that will be taught. Send these young criminals to school, help them get a job. Then, if they EVER go back to their previous life of crime, kill them. The government will give ONE "Last Chance". Make the trade choices good paying ones, ones that would allow them to be a contributing member of Society.

Both are on the way to being career criminals and should be dealt with as such. Enact a three strikes law and enforce it. Three felony strikes and you're in the joint forever.

Bolden SHOT the employee

So I have no sympathy for him or how he grew up, billcass. Robbery is one thing, and bad enough, but to SHOOT the employee? That could have very well ended badly for the employee. Bolden has shown that he has zero regard for human life. This time he didn't kill someone. Next time, his victim may not be so lucky. Yep. Execute him if convicted.

billcass, I agree with some that, this what the Great Society, liberals, democrats and black leaders have created over the last 30 to 40 years. It can't be fixed supporting the same old entitlement programs. By the way billcass we are not stupid and can understand.

Who said you were stupid and could not understand? I certainly didn't mean to imply as much. And I am about as far to the right as one can get. But as followers of a sovereign God, who rules by grace, we should be more attuned to the fact that, for all of their sins, they are also God's children and God loves these two as much as he loves you and me.

"The man approached an employee and demanded money.

.
First of all, the thug had a gun. Give him the freakin money.

Second, animals like that don't deserve to live and will certainly kill at some point in the future. If a legitimate opportunity to take them out now arises, someone should take it. No telling how may lives would be saved.

(Notice I said "legitimate". I'm not in favor of vigilantism.)

Sick and tired of that claptrap about being "born into those circumstances". They have free will and in choosing to shoot an unarmed man, they chose to exercise that free will.

Just suppose that round had struck an artery, billcass? What then?
