Bandit robs Gordon Highway convenience store

For the second time in two months, a Gordon Highway gas station on Monday was held up.

According to an Richmond County Sheriff’s Office incident report, a man in a hooded sweatshirt, white gloves and a camouflage face mask went into BP, 2061 Gordon Highway, about 6:40 a.m. Monday waving a gun and demanding the clerk open the safe.

The report stated the clerk told him she didn’t have the combination. He told her he was there to rob her, not kill her, so he needed for her to open it.

After getting into the safe, the robber ran from the store with the money.

Police said a similar incident occurred Dec. 23 when a man in a hood and mask entered the store just before 6 a.m. and demanded money from the safe. In that case, the bandit also ran away with cash.
