Man charged in Augusta holdup

An Augusta man is facing charges in the robbery of a Washington Road gas station Sunday.

Police were called to Circle K, 2916 Washington Road, about 1 p.m. after a man demanded money from the clerk before grabbing cash from behind the counter and running away, according to a news release.

Daniel Darrell McGowan, of Aeria Circle, was soon taken into custody in the parking lot of Knights Inn, 210 Boy Scout Road. McGowan, 22, was charged with robbery by intimidation.
