Dominique Nathaniel Cody, 18, of Meadow Lane, has been charged with felony counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime in connection with the incident, according to Richmond County jail records.

He is being held at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.

About 6:50 p.m., Richmond County sheriff’s deputies were called to the 3700 block of Vera Drive in reference to an injured person, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that the victim, Roger A. Tyler, was involved in an argument with another man, which escalated and resulted in Tyler being shot in the back.

Tyler was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center to receive treatment for injuries that weren’t life-threatening.
