For the fourth time in less than two weeks, a stolen Ford truck was used to smash through the walls of a business during a nighttime burglary.

The most recent crash-and-grab occurred early Friday when a gold 1993 Ford F-350 stolen from Jeanne Road was used to smash through a wall at Goshen Grocery, 1657 Goshen Road, according to a Richmond County sheriff’s news release. Nothing was taken from the business, but an ATM was knocked over and covered with debris.

ATMs were targeted in some of the earlier cases.

On Jan. 26, a white 1992 Ford truck stolen from Heathers Way was used to crash into two Mike Padgett Highway businesses, a Citgo and Rack and Grill II. In both instances, the burglars tried to remove ATMs but were unsuccessful. They did make off with some Newport cigarettes from the Citgo. The stolen truck was recovered at Rack and Grill II, where it broke down after its second crash of the night.

Early Jan. 30, police found that a white 1987 Ford truck stolen from McDade Road was used to crash into Manna Mart, 2218 Rosier Road. An ATM was removed. It was later found opened and dumped behind Tobacco Road Elementary.

Sgt. Michael McDaniel said police continue to investigate the cases and look at surveillance video from the break-ins. Police have not determined why all the stolen vehicles are late 1980s to early 1990s Ford trucks.

A description of the burglars has not been released by police. Incident reports from the Jan. 26 crashes said surveillance video showed a black male with a white hoodie, white gloves and a black mask committing the burglaries.

Anyone with information on the cases is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (706) 821-1080 or the criminal investigations division at 821-1020.

Sounds like a stakeout is coming to South Augusta.

To any South Side Store Owner.

As a South Side community concerned citizen, and during this government contrived Ammo Shortage, just keep track of what you use protecting your store.

I will see to it, that it is replaced.

I figure the stupid robbers must have been watching too much TV about how tough Ford trucks are. :) The reason is simple concerning the age of the trucks they are stealing. All trucks past the mid 1990's have a better security system and are much harder to steal. Either way I hope they get caught very soon.

Drove by the store yesterday

and Mr. Wong already had the Construction crews and plumbers repairing the side of his store.

It looks like the criminals took a running start from Goshen Rd. area in front of the Condo's, crossing the grassy area to
crash into the store office area with enough speed.

Some of you might remember Mr. Wong fought off armed robbers some years ago and was severely wounded in the process. The assassin dressed Teens are known by name, but never were charged for that crime, but were arrested on other charges later. The Store security camera video shows a brave Mr. Wong shielding his wife.

The driver(s) can't be that hard to spot, IF the Airbags were still working. The driver(s) surely has black eyes (Air Bag eyes) from these multiple crash and grabs.

Several months ago Mr. Wong put up his store for sale. He gets plenty of Business but him and his wife are retiring.

You won't find two nicer

You won't find two nicer people than Mr. & Mrs. Wong. Sure hate to see them retire but wish them well when they do. Mrs. Wong is always so cheerful whenever I stop there to pick up something or get gas.
