The first break-in occurred when a blue-and-white 1992 Ford F-150 truck stolen from a Heathers Way residence crashed through the doors of Citgo, 3735 Mike Padgett Highway sometime before 2:30 a.m. Sunday.
Surveillance video showed someone in a black mask and white gloves get out of the vehicle, push over the cash registers and take cigarettes, according to an incident report.
About that same time, police were called to Rack and Grill II, 3801 Mike Padgett Highway, where the stolen truck had rammed the front doors and was abandoned.
According to an incident report, someone matching the same description tried to open and remove the ATM from inside. After failing to remove the machine, the masked bandit ran away.
About 1:30 a.m. Thursday, police were called to Manna Mart, 2228 Rosier Road, where they discovered that a white 1990s Ford pickup had backed into the business. Surveillance video showed the truck back into the store three times before the video was cut off. An ATM with an estimated $6,000 in cash was stolen.
Sgt. Michael McDaniel said he is unaware whether the truck used in Thursday’s burglary had been reported stolen.
Police are investigating to see whether all the cases are related.
