Rickey Grover Smith, 62, of Moore Road, has been charged with felony counts of murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, according to Richmond County jail records.

On Friday, Richmond County sheriff’s deputies were called to the 1900 block of Moore Road, where they found one person dead and another hurt after a shooting, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

Chief Deputy Coroner Mark Bowen said Saturday that Christopher Padgett, 39, of Augusta, was shot at least once in the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 11 p.m.

An autopsy will be done in Atlanta at the GBI Crime Lab, Bowen said in a news release.

The other victim was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center, deputies said. There has been no update on that person’s condition.

Take this with a grain of salt.

In speaking with the locals at Huddle House today at lunch.
I was told the shooter is related to the person wounded.

But Like I said take it with a grain of salt.

I've heard it too, nocnoc...

RCSO hasn't said much about it over the weekend. Still no update on the condition of the second victim.
