Police say an Augusta man tried to leave a grocery store with 16 rib-eye steaks stuffed into his jacket Saturday.
Police say Grady William Richardson, 43, of Fernwood Court, entered Kroger at 3128 Deans Bridge Road about 3:15 p.m., where he placed the steaks – worth more than $140 – into his jacket before trying to leave without paying, according to a Richmond County sheriff’s office report.
Before Richardson could leave, an employee stopped him for questioning. He agreed to stay until deputies arrived.
Richardson was taken to the Charles B. Webster Detention Center, where he was booked on charges of shoplifting, according to the report.
