A Richmond County grand jury returned an indictment Tuesday against Chad Jones Singleton that charges him with two counts vehicular injury, two felony counts of hit and run, and misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence, hit and run, improper lane change, driving without headlights on, following too closely, and aggressive driving.
According to the indictment, on Nov. 30 Singleton caused a vehicle to crash, flipping several times, after ramming into another vehicle twice. Two people in the vehicle that flipped were seriously injured; one suffered a broken neck.
According to Richmond County court records, Singleton was convicted of DUI in 2010 and was charged with DUI again on Nov. 4, 2012.
In connection with the second case, Singleton was transferred to the DUI accountability court in October. That case has been put back in active prosecution status.
Singleton is currently in jail. He is scheduled to be arraigned on the new felony case on Jan. 17.
