According to Columbia County sheriff’s records, Shawn Keith West, 19, and Robert Deontrae Daniel, 19, both of Valley Park Court in Augusta, and Munde Charnecia Bostic, 17, of Laurel Place in Martinez, were being held Friday at the Columbia County Detention Center on an array of charges that included discharging firearms, having weapons on school property, stalking and making terroristic threats, in connection with an incident that began about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday at Evans High.

A sheriff’s report states that an 18-year-old Evans student was getting onto a bus after school when she spotted West and Daniel waiting outside. The girl suspected the two were there for her 19-year-old brother, who had been having a dispute with West. She contacted her brother and told him to avoid the bus and find another way home.

When she arrived at her home on Dresden Drive, she saw West, Daniel and Bostic in a blue Honda Accord driving by slowly. She said the occupants returned later when she was standing in the driveway talking with her brother. The siblings told deputies they saw West and Daniel with handguns. They said they saw West lean out of the passenger window and fire once into the air.

On Thursday, deputies met with Bostic at Evans High School. Bostic confirmed the details of the story told by the siblings, and warrants were issued for her arrest and for West and Daniel. Police also recovered a 9 mm shell from Dresden Drive, the report said.

The suspects are awaiting a hearing before a judge to set bond on the felony charges.

Oh, I've seen the last name

Oh, I've seen the last name Bostic before plenty of times in Richmond County news, but don't recall seeing this youngster before, only males by that last name up til today. Didn't know there were Bostics in Columbia County, too.

Sounds like gang activity!!

These people are cowards!! Three, going after one; with guns!! Wow, now that is brave!!

BUT, the fact is we don't know what the "dispute" was over!! It could have been over money owed to them for drugs that were "fronted" with expectations of being paid at a later time. Does that excuse this? Absolutely NOT!! Does it mean they shouldn't be charged? Absolutely NOT!!! Does it mean that this victim willfully put himself in a bad situation?

.......

Minority churches in Columbia County date back to the 1800's. For awhile, minorities outnumbered white people in Columbia County. So it might be these thugs are returning to their roots.

Questions about the Firearm

How does a teen get a pistol Firearm, there are laws against that?

Who is the registered Owner, was it stolen or was it a Family members?

I though we had gun laws would keep UNDERAGE Punks from having Firearms?

Where are those safer streets and communities that the Liberals promised us when they passed Gun Law after new Gun Law.

Laws that inhabit honest citizens from protecting themselves?

Wonder where the bullet

Wonder where the bullet landed in a crowded neighborhood? I understand youthful angst and fighting-it's almost play to males developing. Gosh I fought with my brothers, best friends, about everyone in my youth-didn't really want to kill anybody though nor did anyone else. It was like male dominance and play-gosh we had some "epic" battles-more like bucks fighting over a doe sort a thing. Now the mentality is to kill or permanently maim an opponent and make them a mortal enemy. Jeez I'd have no friends if all I fought were an "enemy"=we were mostly best friends and had playful rivalries. Never any guns or knives or weapons-just duke it out a bit and who got the better that day-play pranks. Crazy when you think about it-it was like war.

Maybe you need to learn the difference in discernment, and judgment!! Also, maybe you need to learn how to read the Bible, specifically keeping subject and object in mind, when reading. Did you know that God himself placed JUDGES, over man? What are THEY suppose to do?

Laws do not stop bad people

Nonoc, there are numerous laws that were broken here. A lot of very naïve people continue to believe that somehow making something illegal will stop it from happening. Most of us understand that only the law abiding are going to abide by the law. One of the really big issues in law enforcement is getting US Attorneys to prosecute the federal gun violations which have VERY heavy sentences. Guess why? As a result of this failure, the states district attorney ends up using the state statute which is often far more lenient.

Just what are Obama voting types? huh? When a voter casts that vote, it is none of your business who they vote for. I voted for Obama, and guess what. I don't have a criminal record. Imagine that!

Yes, praying can't hurt,

Yes, praying can't hurt, certainly. But these young men have a little something called FREE WILL that was given to them, by God!! The only thing that will change their hearts, is themselves. I good start would be to seek Christ!! But, the Bible does say "Seek ye FIRST, the kingdome of heave, THEN all things shall be given unto you." God will NOT change their free willed decisions, until they SEEK HIM!! When they do, He will touch their hearts and they WILL be changed. But that must come from within themselves!! You can pray for them all you want, but it won't help until THEY decide to change.

But "By their fruits, ye shall know them." I use good discernment!! I call a spade a spade!! When I see people acting like thugs (has nothing to do with race) I will speak boldly against them. Can they change? Yes, and I certainly hope they do so. It's never too late until you've taken your last breath!!!

Chain gangs, etc. will make

Chain gangs, etc. will make no difference. I am a junkie for cop shows, depts of corrections shows, etc.; and it is clear to me that once they become "feral", there is little you can do to bring them back to "normal", if they have never known it. Going to prison is a rite of passage for many of them, and another notch in the belt.
They have no clue of how "real" people live, as all they have ever known is the streets. If you dropped them into a middle class family, they would be as lost as if you dropped me in Windsor Castle.
The manners, morals, work ethic, respect for life, etc. that the readers and posters here accept and take for granted as the norm, are a foreign idea to them.

The most obvious common denominator I see as I watch these shows, for all ethnicities, is the lack of a father in the picture. It is very rare that during the course of following a prisoner's past, present, and future do you see or hear mention of a father.

So, you have to ask the question: What have we done as a society to diminish the role of men in the lives of children, and what can we do to restore that?

A couple of answers are obvious.....

The truth is...

I know the parents of one of the accused young men. This young man comes from a very loving home with a mother and father who are very much involved in his life. Sometimes, despite the best efforts of the parents, children choose to live contrary to their upbringing. Neither his family, nor society is not to be blamed for the choices that he has made in his life. We, as parents, know that our children will make mistakes. We pray that they don't make the kind for which they will pay the rest of their lives. I cannot comment on how the other two suspects were raised, but I do know about one of them. You can only imagine the frustrations of the parents who are incensed at their child's actions and are probably asking themselves where they went wrong in raising him. When all of you arm-chair quarterbacks discover the perfect, foolproof method of raising children, let us all know.
