"According to the statement....

I see they were "apprehended" in Richmond County. I wonder what's their county of residence? Columbia County? Richmond County?

A Waste of Resources

Please tell me that the RCSO isn't wasting taxpayer dollars on nonsense like this. Prostitution is legal in almost every country in the world (including our neighbor Canada) and it involves consenting adults.

I am more worried about the murderers, rapists, armed robbers and other violent goons who destroy human life who freely walk our streets. Prostitution stings should be so low on the level of priorities for the RCSO it should register a minus-zero.

If taxpayer funds are so freely available to waste, perhaps some budget-cutting for the Sheriff's Office is in order.

Wouldn't arresting the johns

Wouldn't arresting the johns be more effective? They're the ones producing the demand for prostitutes.

Are you even slightly concern over the willful spread of HIV and other STD's to the clients of these prostitutes? Are you even slightly concerned about the "slavery" issues that comes along with this type activity? Women being forced into this business? Women being taken advantage of because of their addictions?

Just like in Nevada where prostitution is legal; there is still a black market for this activity!! Just like there is a black market for cigarettes and alcohol!! Do you think the average joe can pay a couple thousand dollars to vist the mustang ranch? I would be willing to bet the prostitutes in this case weren't getting more than $50.00 a job!! Just look at them, who would pay more? Who would pay for them, AT ALL?? Nasty disease ridden prostitutes!! Probably with heavy drug addictions, being forced into sex slavery!! No, legalization will NOT stop this; that's complete crap!! Legalization would only make the legal prostitution very expense, therefore the rich could pay thousands of dollars to explore their fetishes. But people without that kind of money, would still visit these street prostitutes for 50 bucks!!

Also, you do realize law enforcement can walk and chew gum at the same time, right?

no one forces anyone into
Unpublished

no one forces anyone into anything (except government run health care); people make their own choices, and pointing the finger at everyone else for personal problems, instead of taking responsibility and accountability is just a cop-out, so prevalent in our society today, from the top-most echelon of society to the lowest of the low. moral compasses do not exist for a great many in the world today; this is the self-gratification generation, the 'me' generation and be darned to consequences. i say these prossies got just what they deserved, but whoever made the comment about focusing on the johns is right, too: arrest the losers who go to these women/men for their jollies, plaster their pics in the paper just like they do the prossies, put signs up in their front yard, just generally embarrass the heck out of 'em, and see if that doesn't put a dent in the activity.

Besides the public health

Besides the public health issue, another reason to be concerned about prostitution rings is that young girls (boys) are sometimes abducted and made sex slaves or are forced into prostitution. I wouldn't want these seedy characters around my neighborhood.

I would bet most of the women arrested are on welfare and not reporting a cent of the money they earn. That and selling drugs is how many get the extra spending money they have to buy cars and flat screens and scam the system.

165 countries have legalized this activity

By a United Nations Women's Rights Resolution.
President Carter signed the UN resolution back around 1980 or 81
President Clinton signed an Executive Order agreeing with the UN Resolution in the 1990's.

It has yet to be ratified by the US Senate although Sen. Barbra Boxer did get around 35 votes of the 51 needed back in the early 2000's

Regarding Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD's) Issues.

3rd World Countries werre it common not to practice Safe sex measures, have higher STD / STI rates than Modern Industrial European based countries.

NOTE: While Modern Countries (Western European cultures) that have legalized or never outlawed this Profession, continue to have lower STD/STI % rates than the USA.

Examples:
While Chlamydia is the most commonly reported.
Reported rates of chlamydia infections ranged from 201.8 per 100,000 in United Kingdom to 401.3 per 100,000 in United States.

Reported % rates of gonococcal/gonorrhea infections were also HIGHER in the United States than in other Modern Countries.

While infectious syphilis is relatively rare in Modern Industrial counties. The USA has the HIGHEST infection % rate also.

So statistics dis-spell the Myth the the Prostitution increases STI/STD's.

http://www.phac-aspc.gc.ca/std-mts/report/sti-its2008/06-eng.php

BTW:
CDC has found that US Senior Citizens, yes us 45-80 Gray Wovles and Cougars showing a Steady INCREASE in STD's since 2000.

Plus 50+ age group was one of the fastest-growing demographics for online dating.

I guess those ED pills should come with a you know what.

Personally I want not part of the services Illegal or legal.

One more personal view on this subject

While I have never used the services of a Professional.

On many a date I felt like I was worked by a Professional.
Transportation service pickup and return, activity agenda negotiations,
a dinner, agreed on entertainment, flowers, more discussions, a gift of some type, and maybe etc. etc.

Anyone here back in the 1960-70's, knew the locations and where they existed in the Downtown, US-25 and Gordon Hwy areas.

It has been a "Quietly Allowed" business for various reasons in Richmond County and Downtown forever.

MY15, the mustang ranch has

MF15, the mustang ranch has been closed for quite some time. The bunny ranch, however is open. They have a website, with pictures of the girls and you can make on line appointments. Just my opinion, but the girls on the website are more attractive than their Augusta counterparts.
Side Note: one of the Augusta ladies has an appropriate name for the industry. Myeong-suk Yang

GAD

Well, I might have got them confused. I recently seen a news interview with the owner of one of those in Nevada. They showed video of the girls and YES, they were attractive women. It also costs THOUSANDS of dollars to spend an hour or two with them. I'm also sure the professional prostitution houses, do STD tests have strict rules for their employees and use protection. I suppose you get what you pay for. If you pay thousands, you get clean, attractive hookers. If you pay $50.00 on the street, you get a disease ridden drug addict and you better bring your own protection.

Where is the lefts outrage on this? Only the RICH get to enjoy the company of a clean, attractive hooker? This is discrimination of the poor!!! Why do poor people always get the crap end of the stick!!

The Real Health Issue

myfather15 wrote - "Are you even slightly concern over the willful spread of HIV and other STD's to the clients of these prostitutes?"

If prostitution were legal and regulated throughout the US, there would be protocols in place to promote safe sex for both provider and client. Other countries where prostitution is completely legal have already figured this out.

In terms of STDs and HIV transmission, the real problem is not with prostitution - but with adolescents and teens. One in four teens in this country has an STD, which clearly shows the failure of public policy to educate teens adequately on sexual matters. There is still too much stigma attached to frank discussions about sex for teens.

STD prevention, through availability of contraceptives, free health screenings and frank discussions, should be a priority in the country, because our young people are contracting diseases in epidemic proportions.

According to the US Dept. of Health and Human Services, "Adolescents ages 15-24 account for nearly half of the 20 million new cases of STD's each year".

HALF of all cases. That's means adults have FAILED in educating young folks about safe sex practices. We should be ashamed that our own discomfort in discussing sexual matters has translated into rampant disease among our young people.

http://www.hhs.gov/ash/oah/adolescent-health-topics/reproductive-health/...

Maybe one day, the US will grow up and sheds its Puritanical attitude towards sex.

The sale and prostitution of women's bodies is not a legitimate business enterprise. It absolutely should be illegal in any country which has any aspirations to being civilized. If the civil law is not based on the moral law, then what is it based on?

The fact that it has been legalized in some western countries has no bearing on the issue. This is not enlightenment. They've simply thrown in the towel and given up. This is one more clear indication of the progressive moral decay of the west on its "slouch towards Gomorrah", to use Robert Bork's immortal words.

Nothing but left wing blather!!

I doubt you will see this comment, since it's 3 days later; but I'll give it a shot anyway.

First of all, take another look at the picture of these people arrested. Do they look like people who obey rules and regulations? So, if prostitution if legal, do you think they are going to abide by the regulations on prostitution? No, they will just sell themselves on the Street, AS THEY ARE DOING NOW!! They won't care whether you make it legal or not.

"We should be ashamed that our own discomfort in discussing sexual matters has translated into rampant disease among our young people."

Actually, we should be ashamed at teaching our children the liberal policy of "Everything goes" and "Just have fun, don't worry about the consequences." Sex, drugs and Rock&Roll certainly isn't a conservative theme!! Sex, drugs and Rap music certain isn't either!! The LEFT are the ones telling ALL people that you should have as much sex as possible, even if you're a child!!! Even on subjects like this, you guys try to blame us, when you know darn well it's the lefts fault!! Their constant attack on morals is exactly to blame!!

I'm a conservative person but I certain teach my children about sex, but I do it responsibly and teach them it is SUPPOSED to be between a man and wife!! AND that the purpose is for procreation, pleasure is a secondary/added bonus!! I teach them the TRUTH!!!! Something the left knows NOTHING about!!!
