Police are searching for two men after the robbery of Family Dollar on Tobacco Road on Monday morning.

Police were called to the business about 8:15 a.m. after two black men robbed it and fled. Police dogs were taken to the scene. Both Jamestown Elementary and Morgan Road Middle schools were on soft lockdown as a precaution while police searched the area.

You got that right. They aren't so brave when they discover they aren't the only kids in the sandbox with a gun. And it didn't take long to stop all of those armed robberies going on back then. I doubt if we will ever see a sheriff who is that decisive ever again. The sheriff back then may have been a lot of things but indecisive was not one of them. Anybody can catch crooks AFTER they commit a crime but very few sheriffs have the cojones to actually instruct his deputies to PREVENT crime. As far as I am concerned, if the sheriff isn't PREVENTING crime then he is just an overpaid report taker who shows up after the fact.....after you are robbed.....after you are beaten or dead.
