Woman, 24, sought after Augusta man stabbed

Richmond County sheriff's deputies are searching for a 24-year-old woman suspected of stabbing her live-in boyfriend in the chest, arm and back Saturday.

Police say Elizabeth A. Sta­ten is wanted on a charge of battery after Robert McBride was stabbed about 6:30 a.m. during an altercation in the 2700 block of Gardenbrook Court. Staten also has four felony arrest warrants related to financial transaction card fraud, deputies said.

She was described as a black woman about 5 feet, 4 inches tall and 225 pounds. She left the scene before police arrived.

McBride was taken to Geor­gia Regents Medical Center where he was in serious condition, according to the sheriff's office.
