Marcus Andre Coleman, 20, of the 100 block of Taylor Street, was arrested about 10 p.m. New Year’s Eve at Knights Inn on Jefferson Davis Highway, according to Richmond County sheriff’s Lt. Calvin Chew.

Coleman was being held in the Aiken County Detention Center; charges of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime were pending his extradition to Georgia.

Ralph Harrell, 40, was found with a gunshot wound to the chest at Scottish Inn, 1079 Stevens Creek Road, about 1:25 a.m. Sunday and later died.

On Monday, investigators released a surveillance video of a suspect, who had not yet been identified, walking with another man.

The Aiken Department of Public Safety and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division assisted in Coleman’s arrest.

The Augusta safety forces have been doing a fantastic job arresting the thugs committing violent crimes. It's a shame that their hard work is wasted by soft prosecutors and judges. Keep the cops and dump the judiciary and prosecutors at the next election. No plea bargains for violent crimes and never grant first offender status when there's violence.
