Police seek Burke County sex offender

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a 40-year-old sex offender who moved out of the county without registering with police.

According to a statement from the sheriff’s office, Tracy Harris, of Girard, who had been convicted of statutory rape in 1996 in Screven County, has recently moved to an unknown address in Richmond County without registering with the sheriff’s office.

Police obtained an arrest warrant for Harris on Dec. 9 on a charge of failure to comply with the sex offender registry.

Harris is described as black, 5 feet, 9 inches tall and about 180 pounds. He has short, black hair, brown eyes and has been known to have a goatee.
