Raven Thompson, 22, said he was sitting in the parking lot at 3554 Windsor Spring Road about 6 p.m. when an unknown black male approached on the driver’s side and started talking to him, according to a Richmond County sheriff’s report.

Thompson said his wallet was on the passenger seat in clear view, and less than a minute into the conversation the man brandished a black handgun and demanded Thompson give him the money in the wallet.

After handing over the money, Thompson said the man, who wore all black, fled toward Tobacco Road.

Modern entrepreneurship

Some people just aren’t content with letting the Feds do it for them.

The area has several security cameras

As we know from other robberies that have occurred in this general location in the last 6 months.

BESIDES
How stupid can the guy be.

Says he is in parking lot (reason not listed),
a stranger walks up,
talks to a stranger for extended period with his wallet in open view on the seat,

Stranger demands only the $$$ not the quick process of hand over the wallet and robs him.

Careless, maybe he was, BUT...what a shame you can't park in a busy parking lot & feel safe...do we always have to be on GUARD 24/7..that is pathetic. Could this be one of the reasons you are high tailing it out of there???

Checkers

Checker does not have a dine in option.

You either eat at the tables outside or eat in the car in the parking lot.

When an 'unkown black male wearing all black' is even close to

my vehicle I am immediately on guard. First don't talk to him, roll the window up, start the vehicle and plan an escape route.

It's a shame but we all have to be aware of our surroundings at all times. That's what worries me when I see young people so engrossed in their telephones that they don't even know what is going on around them. Sad but the streets are not friendly!

And? What is your point? Is it Checker's fault?

This area

is in the middle of the road just up from Meadowbrook Rd and across from Woodlake.

This mini shopping center has had its share of issues.
From:Burglaries, crash and grabs at a Computer store, holdups, assaults, rape, drugs and armed robberies.

It is what I love to call a Target Rich Environment.

Not some place to talk to strangers with your wallet on the seat in the car next to you.
