According to a Aiken Department of Public Safety news release, Michael Antwon Fuller, of Aiken, was charged with kidnapping, criminal sexual conduct, unlawful carrying of a pistol and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

He approached the woman in the parking lot of a hotel and asked for a ride to the hospital, according to the police statement. After getting in the vehicle, Fuller pulled out a pistol and ordered her to drive around as he committed sexual battery, the statement said.

The woman put the vehicle in reverse and backed into a tree in order to escape.

Police arrived at the crash site on Medical Park Drive at 4:35 a.m. and found Fuller, along with a .25 caliber pistol.

Fuller was being held at the Aiken County Detention Center.
