About 6:50 p.m., Bobby Earl Haynes, 54, brandished a firearm and demanded money from the clerk at AutoZone at 2946 Deans Bridge Road, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office. A nearby deputy confronted him, and Haynes fired a shot in the deputy’s direction before fleeing toward Wheeless Road. The deputy was not injured.

Police say that in the robbery of Family Dollar at 2914 Deans Bridge Road, Haynes threw two registers on the floor and grabbed the money.

Haynes is considered “armed and extremely dangerous,” according to the statement. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (706) 821-1020 or (706) 821-1080.

Too bad the deputy didn't return fire and ventilate this guy's butt.

At 54 years of age, he doesn't fit the typical profile of a store robber. Is he a late starter or simply a small time hoodlum who never moved on to other things?

He has now fired on LE, so we know for a fact he is dangerous. I hope 'Tree has issued the order to fire at will if he is found.

The only solution

The way to stop this mess is to execute this criminal upon conviction. Anyone who kills an officer or commits an act of aggravated assault on an officer needs to be executed upon conviction. It is time we send a signal the the criminal punks who's sole purpose in life is to prey on others. If they will shoot at an officer - or kill an officer - then civilians that happen to get into the way of these worthless slugs stand no chance. It needs to stop. And it needs to stop now.
