JEFFERSON, Ga. -- A 34-year-old man is facing murder and feticide charges in connection with last week’s deaths of his teenage girlfriend and her unborn child.

Authorities believe the couple recently moved from south of Atlanta to Jackson County near Athens, where the mother and child were fatally injured Wednesday night.

At about 9:45 p.m. that day, someone placed a 911 call from the home. Sixteen-year-old Cheyanne Nicole Hair was subsequently transported to Athens Regional Medical Center, where she later died.

Within hours of the teen’s death, her boyfriend was arrested for allegedly violating probation in Spalding County, authorities said.

An autopsy performed at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s State Crime Lab determined that Hair had been murdered and was also pregnant.

The boyfriend, 34-year-old Jonathan Michael Smith, was charged with murder and feticide Friday.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation consulted with the Piedmont Judicial Circuit’s district attorney regarding Smith’s charges. The GBI said in a news release that authorities anticipate additional charges may be brought against Smith in connection with the alleged murder-feticide.

Authorities have not publicly stated how Hair and her unborn child were killed, citing an ongoing investigation.

Smith is being held at the Jackson County Jail. The county’s chief magistrate judge held a first appearance for Smith over the weekend, in which he denied bail.

Execute Him

A perverse guy @ 34, with a 16 year-old. Was already a loser. He'd better pray that he stays in jail, lest his girlfriend's family should find him. Just sayin'...

How can any state charge

How can any state charge someone with feticide? I mean, arent the unborn not persons? The woman could have terminated this child without cause with no penalty.

I support hanging this guy by his toes over a vat of hot grease, I just find it maddening that I work near the "planned parenthood" moratorium and this guy did the same thing they do.

I have to say, I thought the same thing. Basically, it's feticide whenever an unborn child is killed by anyone other than the mother. Under the law, abortion is not considered an act that contributes to feticide...consent of the mother on the termination of the pregnancy is the defining factor.

I was having this

I was having this conversation with an ADA the other day. There was a case where a man got probation for feticide and another who got probation for child molestation. Several deputies were asking the ADA how this could happen. The answer was complete bull and I said "It happens because of PROGRESSION." Which the liberals are ALWAYS pushing for. We are progressing every day, whether people see and recognize it or not.

50 years ago, people could not imagine a mother intentionally murdering her unborn child. Now it's common place and no big deal!!

20 years ago; if a man beat a woman up and she lost the baby, he went to prison for a lengthy time. Now the sentence is often probated if the mother survives.

50 years ago, if a man molested a child; he would be lucky to make it to court. If he did make it to court and was found guilty, he could count on spending 30+ years in prison. Now days it's common for them to serve less than 2 years and many sentences are probated.

When society continues to "progress" and deteriorate; there is no limits to how far it can go!! 30 years from now, it could be common and LEGAL to have sex with children!! Because they SLOWLY and SUBTLY change peoples minds about such behavior. Now it's ok to sentence a child molestor to less than 5 years OR probate the sentence. Eventually, it won't even require probation; just a fine!! Later is will not be criminal at all.

Why? Because people will NOT stand up STRONG and say "We will not put up with this." We can't get the good people to unite on ANYTHING today!! I believe this is because of CONFUSION. The left has done a BRILLIANT job at confusing people; blurring the lines of right and wrong. People don't even know what is truly right anymore.

When you have "Christians" going about advocating gay marriage and "women's rights" (abortion); the good guys are in a world of hurt!! When you have a society advocating the legalization of hard narcotics, we are ALL in a world of hurt!!

Right has been turned wrong and wrong has been turned into right!! That is the bottom line!! God's Word warns us this will happen!! Are you a watchman who can recognize the difference? Are you a warrior for RIGHT? Or do you even know what that is anymore?

Feticide

Abortion is murder. You have a beating heart and you stop it. What else would that be called.
Feticide is murder.
There is no other explanation.

What happened to statutory rape and having him listed as a sex offender the rest of his life?

Life

Two murder charges is not enough. Child molestation, statutory rape, endangerment of a minor child, aggrivated assault and any other charge that can be thrown at this demonic person should be added. The rest of his life should be very, very short.

Age of consent...

in Georgia is 16. As if a 16-yr old really knows what s/he's doing when it comes to that.

We've lowered our punishments

We've lowered our punishments just like we have lowered our education standards and for the same "progressive" reasons. They downhill slide for both started at the same time. I guess we don't want to damage the criminal's self-esteem either.

I must give the liberal-progressives one thing; they are brilliant strategists and have been for well over 100 years!!

They confuse people by dividing their attention!! Take this case for example. If they discovered this man was molested or abused as a child, they would play that and tug at peoples hearts. They would divert peoples attention away from the horrific crime HE commited, onto how he was treated as a child. He would then become the victim in MANY peoples eyes. The problem is, they've been doing this for decades and the good people are just catching onto it!! We are WAAAAY behind in this battle!!

Also, the people who are believing this junk; aren't you and I. The typical person who comes onto a news website and comments, is pretty involved in what's happening in the world. Whether they are hard left, hard right or right in the middle, they are still involved. It's those THOUSANDS that don't give a flip, who are being manipulated into believing this progressive non-sense. Our teens are being manipulated and indoctrinated in the "higher learning" education centers, often referred to as "Colleges". Trust me, my wife was attending one of these centers. I got to see the philosophies that were being taught there. I also saw the problems they gave her on some of her beliefs, because they weren't in line with the leftist views. She eventually quit this college and has started her bachelor's with Liberty University.

As everyone knows, they're also starting in elementary schools; teaching sex education to 1st and 2nd graders. Giving out condoms to elementary age children. Bringing in cross dressers to teach kids to "Be what they want to be". Having elementary school kids singing "Obama loves the little children" instead of Jesus loves the little children.

But we have a hard fight in front of us, because we are just now waking up and realizing this!! We must STAND strong!! But never forget, we have a Savior!!
