Employees at the 2914 Deans Bridge Road store said a black man came in just before 5 p.m. with his hand in his pocket, making it appear that he had a gun, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

The man shoved a cashier and tried to open a cash register. When he couldn’t do it, he walked around the counter, picked up the register and threw it to the floor, breaking it open. Then he did the same to another register.

After emptying one register and most of the other, the man ran south on Deans Bridge Road, according to the report.

The suspect was described as unshaven, about 6 feet tall and wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, tan hat and purple shirt.

I'm not sure

Any of the Family Dollars in Augusta have security guards. The one on Laney-Walker use to get robbed at least once a month last year. I do know the one on Gordon Hwy, has a former Augusta Police department (name before the consolidation) officer who is an employee.
