A man with a history of brutalizing women was convicted of crimes that resulted in a sentence of life in prison plus 45 years.

A Richmond County Superior Court jury last week convicted Antoine L. Dishmond, 33, of rape, burglary, aggravated assault and a weapon charge, said District Attorney Ashley Wright, who prosecuted Dishmond.

The Aug. 8 assault was the cumulation of a series of violent acts against the victim, who had obtained a restraining order against him a month earlier.

Dishmond had prior convictions in 2002 for five counts of aggravated assault and in 2004 for attacking the mother of his child.

Why? Why did it take this long to protect the citizens of Ga. from this monster? Who are the laws designed to protect?

Our legal system worries more about the rights off the criminal than of the victims. Our system of justice is upside down and it's because trial layers want it that way. The only people benefitting from it are lawers and thugs.
