The 17-year-old said a man came up behind him as he was walking near the 2100 block of Sibley Road about 4 p.m. and told him to take off his sneakers, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

The teen, who was talking on his cell phone, turned around and saw a man holding a handgun. The boy said he immediately complied and then walked in his socks to a friend’s nearby house and waited for a ride to the motel where his family is living.

The teen, who had been wearing Air Jordan 11 Bred shoes, reported the crime more than an hour later. When asked why he waited, the boy said he didn’t want to “look like a snitch.”

The suspect was described as black, wearing a hooded camouflage jacket. The teen said the man was holding a black semi-automatic handgun.

Well, the kid was almost

Well, the kid was almost right...he looks like a snitch without any shoes on!! All jokes aside, isn't it interesting that kids like this care more for how they are perceived by their "peers" than by the injustice of being robbed of their personal possessions? Right or wrong, that makes me think that a person who feels this way would do the same to someone else....just take what they want from an innocent, just because, and if the victim "snitches", then the victim is really the person who is guilty of a cultural crime!
I guess when you get older and you've seen a lot, you finally get the screw'em attitude and will "snitch" because you know whatever happened like that just isn't right, or legal.

Air Jordan 11 Bred shoes

this kid is walking around with a pair tennis shoes valued at between $199.00 and $399.00 dollars?

Why are they living in a MOTEL, since they have this kind
of $$$ to waste? My high end Tennis shoes cost me $34.95 and last me usually 2 years or more a pair.

Almost missed the other item

Happen while he had his nose buried in a Cell Phone.
A lot of $$$ for frills and toys but has to life in a Extended Stay Motel?

In all fairness it is possible the Motel is only a transitional sleeping location until Section 8 accommodations on the South Side can be arranged.

Gordon Hwy. A war zone. A highway to nowhere. What happened to once vibrant commercial corridor? What happened?

Great Minds

Yeah, nocnoc, I was thinking the same exact thing. Those shoes are probably already on some other kid's feet, by the time the crime was reported. I know there is a new "Jordan" being released, every time I see a line of people camping out in front of Hibbett's Sports. Yeah, $200 shoes, but living in a motel. Sad...

I think that struck us all in

I think that struck us all in the face. Air Jordans, cellphone, and living out of a motel room.....

And the liberals wonder why fiscal conservatives show so much disdain for people who don't/won't help themselves.
