Augusta man pistol-whipped, robbed on Telfair Street

An Augusta man was robbed at gunpoint Monday morning.

Corey Nipper, 27, was walking near the intersection of Third and Telfair streets about 10:30 a.m., when he was approached by two men in black clothing, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

The suspects told Nipper to “give it up” before one of the men pulled a handgun and struck Nipper on the head.

Nipper took $40 out of his pocket and threw it at the robbers, who hit and kicked Nipper before fleeing.

Nipper sustained a large cut over his left eye and scratch marks behind his right ear, deputies said.
