About 6:40 p.m., Richmond County sheriff’s deputies went to the 2500 block of Andorra Drive and found Delarrion T. Smith, 18, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest, according to statement from the sheriff’s office. Smith was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead less than an hour later, Richmond County Deputy Coroner Kenneth Boose said.

Police have not identified any suspects or suspect vehicles in connection with the shooting.

Boose said an autopsy will be performed at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in Atlanta.

RCSO will make a quick arrest, count on it.

Now a very important clarification needs to be made here and
quickly. This happen inside Augusta Richmond County, about 3 or 4 miles north of the closest Hephzibah City Limit line. The only thing that Hephzibah has to do with this is a misleading Zip code.

Agree

Yes, no editor should let stand this mis-identification of area. Highfield says the shooting occurred in Hephzibah when, in fact, it occurred well outside the city limits of Hephzibah.

Hepzibah

I don't know why the people that live in the actual city limits of Hephzibah do not complain about this gross misrepresentation of their town. This shooting happened three to five miles away from the Hephzibah town limits.

Hmmm, sure hope they don't

Hmmm, sure hope they don't start shooting up countyman's new drug store and unknown associated "town center" development before it even gets built. Looks like that was in stray bullet range.

Statistical quesiton

When the crime statistics are tabulated, will this be counted as a ARC Murder or a Hephzibah Murder?

Hephzibah or Augusta?

I know this drives y'all up a wall, but if the postal address says Hephzibah, we say Hephzibah. It's not Travis' fault or any reporter's.

Splitting GPSes

On the map, Hephzibah appears similar in area to London.

Another shooting and useless death

Why do people think the only way to settle something is to shoot? Another young life is lost - no one cared to mention that - the area it happened in is nowhere near Hephzibah, that is correct, (I am 9 miles from there and have the same zip) but people are dying needlessly every day and who is to stop this murder streak? So terribly sad that a Zip code matters more than the death of another human. We've come a long way -

Exactly TrulyWorried. The

Exactly TrulyWorried. The loss of a young life is apparently less significant than the crime's location. Whether it happened in South Richmond County, Westlake, Grovetown, Hephzibah, or Downtown Augusta...someone lost their life. People who comment here are quick to call criminals "Low-lifes" etc...But placing a murder in specific locations to make where you reside seem so much "better" is dispicable. It's all about location until it's someone you care about huh? You people have a lot of growing up to do.

You "Hephzibah" regulars should tell the mayor and Chief to keep

his little chicken catching police running radar on Highway 25 between Highway 88 and Mims Rd. closer to home! You don't want any publicity but you sure do want the revenue from 'your' little speed trap!

Postal Address

Okay, I hope there is no shooting at 4210 Columbia Road. The businesses there use "Augusta, 30907" as their postal address.

Shooting

And now the sad news is even worse - a friend shoots a friend.
God bless both families - the boy's who lost his life in such an unfortunate way
and the family of the boy that made this horrible mistake of judging a gun empty -
A gun that had no business in his hands and those guns that are still out there are spelling more misery in the lives of many.
