About 5:20 p.m., Ronald W. Wilson, 67, of Whaley Pond Road, went to the house of his estranged wife, who lived on the same street, and shot Gerald Wilson, Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton said.

Wilson’s wife and the live-in girlfriend of his grandson were able to escape the house without injury. Carlton said Wilson’s wife stopped an off-duty officer for assistance, who then witnessed Wilson kill himself.

Wilson and his grandson died at the scene.

The deaths came less than 72 hours after Wilson was released from jail. He was being held over a criminal domestic violence incident.

An autopsy is being scheduled in Newberry, S.C., Carlton said.

Sad that life was lost but...

A 16 year old had a live in girl friend. Both living with the grandmother. This is just becoming a norm in society with the break down of the family. Just plain tragic.

When I was 16, I was doing

When I was 16, I was doing good just getting a girl to talk to me. None of the girls at my high schools would even consider living with me.

A Child is Dead!

Can we focus on the fact that a Grandfather killed his Grandson and was released from jail 72 hours earlier on DV and NOT on the fact that the girlfriend was living there. This is a horrible, prayers for the families!

The family from hell

What a total train wreck!

1) A 67 year old man who still likes to slap around members of his own family. Train wreck #1.

2) Where are the parents of the deceased 16 year old? There's no mention of them. Are they in jail? Missing in action? Given up trying to parent an unruly 16 year old? Train wrecks #2 and 3.

3) What sort of a grandmother allows a 16 year old grandchild to shack up under her own roof? Train wreck # 4.

4) A 16 year old who's barely at the age of consent shacked up with a girl of what age? Jail bait and train wreck #5.

It's a shame a young man has lost his life but honestly, is anyone really surprised? At least he won't reproduce.

Without knowing anything but what is here in print,

it is not difficult to conclude that both are features of the same, tragic dysfunction. This family clearly has had serious, dangerous issues for a long time.

It is hard to imagine a grandfather who actually could kill his own grandson unless he was protecting someone from the kid, and it doesn't sound like that's what this was.

Proud mom did it occur to you

Proud mom did it occur to you that THIS may be a contributing factor in why the 16 year old is dead. Where the heck is HIS mother and father??? Why were his grandparents having to obviously raise him?? Yes a child is dead and that is tragic. I pointed out the obvious which is this family must have had issues that led to this tragedy. This cycle will continue as long as people not fit to be parents have kids and then pass them on to others to raise.

The 16 year old was staying with his Grandmother because just 3 days prior the Grandfather was released from jail for abusing the Grandmother and he was making sure she was not alone! NOTHING to do with unfit parents! Just a young man trying to protect his Grandmother!

Come On Folks

Can't you see that this is another AC non-baited hook that catches fish that shouldn't bite because of lack of meat on the hook.

Giants - I suspect that you and I were both nerds

at that stage of life. There were plenty of guys who made out like bandits, even back "in the day".

Back to what "Proud" was saying. It's sad that a sixteen year old lost his life and his future, not to any fault of his own but because of a thoughtless, selfish, deranged man.

Don't know anything about the kid's potential, but whatever it might have been, it's gone forever now.

This Family Needs Prayer

You all have NO idea about this family...Lil Gerald's mom is a very great mom and loves and children very much... How dare any of you Judge her. She just lost her child. And the father he loves his children as well. This child grew up in a loving, GODLY family. If you don't know them don't be quick to judge them. Lil Gerald was a hero.

John 15:13 ASV

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. This family needs prayers not criticism!
