A North Augusta woman has been charged with manslaughter in the fatal shooting of her boyfriend at their residence Wednesday.

Robin Renee Herndon, 40, was charged Thursday and is being held at the Aiken County Detention Center.

Aiken County sheriff’s Sgt. Jason Feemster said Herndon and Christopher Rowley, 31, began arguing at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Jefferson Davis Highway and then continued the argument at their home, 721 Sudlow Lake Road in North Augusta.

A neighbor told a 911 dispatcher she was in her yard when she heard the couple arguing on their front porch. Soon after she heard a gunshot and Herndon screaming.

Police arrived about 2:15 p.m. to find Herndon attempting to give CPR to Rowley, who had a gunshot wound to the neck.

Rowley, 31, was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center, where he died at 3:07 p.m.

Feemster said ballistics tests will determine if Herndon, an employee at South Carolina Probation, Pardon and Paroles, used her service weapon.

Police said the couple had been in a relationship for about nine months and had been living together since March.

as the defense will most certainly, in my opinion, claim self-defense.

why are so many quick to

why are so many quick to judge her . none of us know what was going on before she pulled the trigger . She obviously is trained with guns being an officer . So its not ok to defend yourself if someone if hurting you . So ladies can not defend themselves if their lover is hurting them . No one ever knows what truly goes on behind closed doors . All lovers fight and argue . She cared enough to stay and apply pressure to the gunshot wound. It was her house too, according to the news but this article makes it seem like she went crazy and shot him for no reason . I do not know her but i'm sure anyone would look this bad after they lost a lover from their own doing . Do not be so quick to judge. sounds like they both were good people . If you never experienced Domestic abuse you have no right to jump to judgement . none of us will ever know the moments that lead to her fear to pull the trigger at your lover .

Parole Officer

Domestic Violence is real and I know there are many abused people, yes not only Women are victims, Men and Children are all at risk for abuse. What confuses me and maybe it was an uncontrolled reflex but this lady was trained how to use firearms being a Parole Officer, why did she shoot him in the neck when she could have stopped him with a shot that was not deadly. No one will ever know what happened and my prayers are with the family.

@CG

I checked them both out on Facebook last night because the guy looked familiar. They were apparently more than friends. From all indications, things were just peachy as recently as this past weekend. My guess is shoequeen82 knows one or both of the involved persons. Her username would indicate the same age as the guy.

Just for info purposes....

Anyone trained in the use of firearms are taught you do not pull a gun unless your life or the life of someone else is in danger and there is no such thing as shooting to wound. When you make the decision to pull a weapon it is pulled to kill the threat....period.

See bdouglas,

You provided more meat to the AC's fishing article empty hook. They seem to do this many times with their juicy stories wanting to stir up the keyboards.
Sure would like to set through the trial on this one.

Well, she DID tell investigators that she pulled her pistol

on him three (3) times. So, she had ample opportunity to get out of the situation, whatever it was. And, "shoequeen," nobody said she was arrested and put in a straitjacket. However, a North Augusta cop DID tell me that, firsthand! So, domestic abuse seems to be a viable, yet useless alibi, in this incident.

At this time, she is charged

At this time, she is charged with vol man. However, after an investigation, the DA has the right to upgrade it to 1st degree or 2nd degree murder, so before people start talking about how she was abused, I'd say wait for the trial, the vol man charge is to hold her in jail and get a bond hearing. I have a feeling the charges may be upgraded by the time this is all over and done with.

She looked very distraught on

She looked very distraught on the news last night, and she was shaking and in tears. I certainly hope this was an act of self-defense. The picture they showed of the 2 of them on facebook did not even look like her. Circumstances can totally cause someone's appearance to change. My prayers go up for all involved.

She was never abused.... the

She was never abused.... the only ones who were abused were her kids and him and his kid... She blamed everything on him and he did nothing! I would know... I use to be related to her by marriage... I'm sorry that this happened to him but I'm also glad my cousin left her alive...
