Augusta man involved in ex-girlfriend's stabbing pleads guilty

  • Follow Crime & courts

An Augusta man who stood by as his companion stabbed his ex-girlfriend pleaded guilty Wednesday to aggravated assault and aggravated stalking.

Alejandro J. Estes, 26, entered the plea to reduced charges in Richmond County Superior Court in exchange for four years of probation. He also pleaded guilty in an unrelated case to possession of cocaine for a three-year probated sentence.

In the assault case, Estes was with Starlyta Stewart when they encountered Andrea Pendleton on Nov. 30. Stewart, 34, stabbed Pendleton. She pleaded guilty in June and was sentenced to six years in prison, followed by two years on probation.

On the day of the stabbing, Estes and Pendleton had been to court. Estes was in court on a domestic violence charge. That charge is pending in Richmond County State Court. Estes had two previous domestic violence convictions.

Stabbing

Friend meets foe - or friend meets friend - sort of confusing. Should have put them in jail to begin with and the taxpayer would not have to pay for medical treatment.
