A pedestrian struck Tuesday night while walking down the center of Gordon Highway and found to be under the influence of alcohol has been upgraded to fair condition, according to a Georgia Regents Medical Center spokesperson Thursday.
Dario Martin Caceres, 32, of North Augusta, was listed in critical condition after he was hit about 11:20 p.m. by a car in the middle of the Gordon Highway bridge near the state line.
The driver told authorities she braked to avoid hitting Caceres but saw him too late.
Caceres was considered at fault, according to police.
He could be cited with pedestrian under the influence of alcohol and pedestrian must walk along the shoulder of the roadway.
