Money stolen from two North Augusta car washes

Two North Augusta car washes were burglarized this week, leaving $2,300 missing from change dispensers at the businesses, according to police reports.

Money from Five Notch Road Car Wash, 322 West Five Notch Road, was stolen between 8 a.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Monday, according to a North Augusta incident report.

The owner told police the car wash’s metal door was beaten down and the change dispenser was pried open. A DVR video system was missing and a monitor was damaged, according to the report.

Damage was estimated at $4,500 and $1,200 was missing.

According to a second incident report, $1,000 was stolen from a change dispenser at a car wash at 427 West Martintown Road between 8 a.m. Sunday and 11:45 a.m. Monday.

A metal door to the control room was beaten down, according to the report. Damage was estimated at $1,950.
