Police seek vending machine bandit

Police are looking for a man who stole change from several vending machines at an Augusta car wash Sept. 29 using bolt cutters.

The thief, who is described as wearing a black shirt, black pants and a Jan-Sport backpack, was captured on video surveillance using bolt cutters to remove locks on several vending machines at the 25 Cent Car Wash at 3745 Peach Orchard Road, according to a statement from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Police say the thief appeared on camera for more than 20 minutes removing change from the machines.
