Two people say they were robbed at gunpoint while responding to a Craigslist ad for an iPhone on Saturday.

Anthony Hensley, 26, of Augusta, and Crystal Spurlock, 25, of Wagener, S.C., said they were responding to an ad for an iPhone 5S and drove to a house in the 3800 block of Wendell Street to meet someone by the name of Jamie about 4 p.m. Saturday, a police report said. When they pulled into the driveway, a man approached asking whether they were looking for Jamie.

The man told Hensley and Spurlock that he would see whether Jamie was home, then knocked on the front door. When no one answered, he walked backed to the car, brandished a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded Hensley and Spurlock hand over their phones and the $325 intended for the new phone.

The man was last seen “skipping” toward the end of Wendell Street. He is described as a black male with a slender build wearing a black hooded jacket with white shoes.

The phone came out two weeks

The phone came out two weeks ago. The ONLY way someone would be able to sell an iPhone 5S is if they paid $650 minimum to buy one without a contract OR if it was stolen. Now, when they agree to $325 as a selling price it SHOULD be fairly obvious that it's either option two or they have some other nefarious plan for you. It's obvious common sense is a rare thing these days...

Come on people use some brains

1. Demand all deals be done in a PUBLIC place with camera's.

2. Tell the seller BEFORE you arrive the process will be:
A. you will call them back to set up a PUBLIC PLACE Meet.
B. You will look over the item,
C. THEN if you like the item, you will go to the ATM for the cash, BY YOURSELF.

So many I-phones are stolen nowadays.
I'd have them meet you at the Cell Company to verify
1. it works and
2. it is not reported stolen.

BTW: We avoid bringing CASH. Or if we must we bring a hog leg.

BTW: Isn't this the same area that a Waynesboro LEO, a Party

a Motorcycle, AND "accidental" death(s) occurred on or around
July 28,?

What was the final story on this was any one charged?

Last I heard

I'm familiar with Crystal Spurlock and last I heard no one has been arrested. It also could have been a lot worse since both of them have permits to carry guns but neither one of them had one that day.

Hi. I am Crystal Spurlock.

Hi. I am Crystal Spurlock. First, this story is a condensed version of the event. Secondly, I have found great deals on CL (yes, including legit, clean - even sealed- iPhones).. and while I should've been more cautious, my intuitive guard was lowered upon experiencing previous decent CL transactions. I was thrown off, expecting to meet up with a woman for the phone, etc.

There were other details involved too, all irrelevant to mention now- but it doesn't mean I completely lack common sense. Granted I lacked it there; I was too trusting & thus deceived. But @BDouglas, we've all made mistakes & been deceived at some point. I don't want to live uptight believing all situations will end dangerously, or that everyone is crazy. But I will always be prepared now (in case they are). In hindsight, the situation was sketchy. @Itsanotherday1- The gunman planned to appear indistinct (aside from 1 hand tattoo). Smart for him, tough for investigators. The thief skipped away, happy to successfully robbed us. Someone more 'cautious' in the first place could've avoided the situation, yes, but it happened & I'm thankful it didn't end even worse. The thief will slip up oneday. @nocnoc, Good tips. I usually follow the same guidelines; again.. more details not mentioned here threw me off.

Be safe everyone; holidays are coming!
