An Augusta man died Tuesday after he was stabbed in the chest in the 1900 block of Neptune Drive, and a 15-year-old was arrested in the slaying.

Richmond County Coroner Kenneth Boose said Datravious Hoskins, 18, of Neptune Drive, was pronounced dead at Georgia Regents Medical Center at 6:49 p.m. after suffering a “penetrating injury to his left chest.”

Hoskins was stabbed after arguing with Zemartae Davis, 15, also of Neptune Drive, over a video game system, according to a statement from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office. Davis was arrested late Tuesday on a charge of murder and was taken to the Augusta Regional Youth Detention Center. He will be charged as an adult, according to the statement.

Boose said an autopsy will be performed in Atlanta on Wednesday.

With names like those, they

With names like those, they are destined for failure!! Aren't their parent(s) thinking what they're doing to their kids when they just throw a whole bunch of vowels and consonants together, in no particular order. Read those first names again. Just plain ridiculous.

a few issues and a comment

1.) why is it given certain situations the AC calls and 18 y/o is MAN and in others a TEEN.

2.) Another Black teen was murdered, but no Reverends or a Corthouse protest?

3.) Lacking obligatory comment by the mother telling us how good a kid her small 15 y/o is?

4.) The 18 y/o arrested for MARIJUANA and was likely on probation.

5.) all this over a video game.... what was the name of the game worth killing over?

COMMENT:
Next time we read about a number of police having to forcibly subdue a 15 y/o remember this how deadly a 15 y/o can be.

No matter what the mother or

No matter what the mother or father says, a 15 year old can be a dangerous person. This just proves it.

Wonder why he died?

"Boose said an autopsy will be performed in Atlanta on Wednesday."

I know it's the law but save a little money on an autopsy........do you think the stab wound killed him????

I concur!

"over a video game system"

What more needs to be said?

"over a video game system"

If you believe that life is precious, back up and consider the fact that there are far too many animals out there who don't share your view.

Somehow I just don't think

Somehow I just don't think the RCBOE's new policy of making our teenage hoodlums scrape gum off of desks is going to have much impact on our darling little heathens.

If you want to get the attention of "teens" in our local school system the teachers are going to need a bull whip and a wooden chair. I think the young, innocent, 15 year old Mr. Zemartae is pretty representative of what they have to face in the classrooms every day and what our RCSO deputies have to face on the streets. I just can't get too upset when one of them runs and gets thumped a little bit when they catch him.

Regardless of what their moma tells us, nowadays a 15 year old will kill you for a few dollars, a cell phone, a pair of sneakers, a used video game, or anything else that you've got and they want. The will stab you, they will shoot you, and they will beat you to death. And they most certainly will break into your house or car and steal from you.

Oh, not ALL of them......just the ones that will.

AP style

nocnoc, it's AP style to refer to anyone over the age of 18 as a man or a woman.

Another Beautiful Day and Less to Enjoy

Prayers to the families losses. It hurts to see so many who have yet to start life die so young for things that does not matter. Its a shame that we as adults allow ourselves and children to fall so low as to think a game, clothes, cars, money, being right, feeling disrespected can consume a life out of existence. Sorry, but that is all I have to say.

discussion

Prayers to the families of all those involved. May they receive the support that they need during this tragic situation. Comments such as nocnoc's, while trying to be clever and "pertinent", only come across as lacking some true helpful information, aside from the question about the age, perhaps. Was it necessary to dig around and post a link on the deceased? Was it necessary to make the sarcastic remarks about the lack of the reverends' presence or the 15 year old mother's lack of remarks? Not hardly. Rather, a simple comment on yet another senseless tragedy and then intellectual discussions thereafter should be the way to best use this forum, not trying to see who could make the most creative remark about a limited amount of printed information.
