St. Louis Burgers owner Gregory Allen Glover, 45, of Martinez, is wanted for financial identity fraud.

Gregory A. Glover, 45, the owner of St. Louis Burgers on Furys Ferry Road, is accused of trying to use someone else’s Social Security number to open a bank account.

On Aug. 16, the manager of First Bank at 375 Furys Ferry Road told authorities that Glover, of Valhalla Drive in Martinez, tried to use a Sylvester, Ga., woman’s Social Security number to open a business account at the Martinez bank, according to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

Glover opened business accounts at the bank in 2004 and 2007 under the name Southern Builders & Land Developers. He was listed as the owner and signer for the business.

The manager said she called Glover and told him she had found a Social Security number that didn’t match the one he had used to open the previous accounts. Glover told the manager that he had the two previous accounts at the bank and that bank personnel must have made an error with his Social Security number in the setup of those accounts, according to the report. He then quoted the fraudulent number as his own.

The manager verified that the number Glover provided belongs to the Sylvester, Ga., woman and denied Glover a new account at the bank. She then called police.

Glover is known to frequent Evans Fitness Center in Evans and West Lake subdivision.

Anyone with information about Glover’s whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (706) 541-2800.

Dangit! I just KNEW we

Dangit! I just KNEW we should've eaten there on Sunday after church! Oh well, won't be long before this place is closed!
I'll tell you what, if they do stay open, you better pay with cash instead of a debit card!!

"Known to frequent West

"Known to frequent West Lake..." I guess a criminal doesn't live there, just frequents it? Only in CC!

Triscuit, if this situation...

...makes you think that crime is huge in CC, you must not live in RC. If you did live in RC, you'd think his being sought by authorities would be a waste of time given the nature of the crime. And with the number of violent crimes in RC you'd probably be right. In CC we go after all criminals.

Good for you. Because you do, you should have no problem going after this one. And what on earth does crime in Richmond County have to do with this crime in Columbia County?

Maybe it's because I don't

Maybe it's because I don't think like a criminal, but what does one gain by opening a bank account with someone else's SSN? Putting deposits in that account and not reporting them on his taxes maybe? Just curious.

Turn yourself in, dude

Avoiding the po-po is futile and just adds to your troubles.
And it was never a good restaurant since Raisin' Cain closed at this location.

gcap, I DO live in RC.

gcap, I DO live in RC. Lighten up...it was just weird to see that he "frequented" West Lake (or any neighborhood.) Does he live there or not? Bank/money fraud will get you more serious jail time than most of these thug crimes, so even in poor, lost RC I do believe the police would be after him.

You gotta wonder

just how he thought he was going to get away with that.

I'm inclined to believe he's a few bricks shy of a full load.

Well...

The bottom line is this place wasn't very good. All you Columbia County people should brave the thugs downtown and go to Whiskey Bar Kitchen or Farmhaus. But, I imagine you will stick with your chain restaurants over there in "status symbol land."

Half Off

I, too, printed out one of those ½ Off Chronicle coupons a couple of weeks ago and went there to eat lunch. The burger and fries were decent and worth the sale price, but in my wildest dreams I would not pay full fare there for such humdrum food.

But the thing that was most striking was the slo - o - o - ow service. The kitchen was way behind, and there was not that big of a crowd there. I thought at the time that St. Louis Burgers was not long for this world.

WE ain't all the same in CC.

WE ain't all the same in CC. Don't ever get confused on that and you'll do well. The St. Louis Burger place, for all it's chain qualities, sold 10 dollar cheeseburgers. Even being bumped up to the West Lake/Stevens Creek area isn't going to make it a sure thang. The affluent will pay more for something but over-charging for fast food and thinking your chain-name will give you a pass is not good strategy. The wheels appear to be coming off anyway though.

Trust me

you can get a better burger for less money at the Rack and Grill in Martinez that you get at Farmhaus or St. Louis Burger......it's just so much more "hip" to get one downtown......

Rack and Grill has great

Rack and Grill has great food...reasonable prices...not fancy but not bad at all. Philly Cheesesteak...soo good!!! No smoking in there which is good and not too loud. Love Farmhous food but it's so noisy you can't hear yourself think. Back to story...this guy won't be hard to catch.

Checking accounts

I would imagine he'd use the checking account for a couple of purposes - one, to "kite" checks, thereby defrauding the bank or simply write a bunch of bad checks and steal that way. Unfortunately, the SSN gets reported to ChexSystems (that's a verification system that banks use that prohibit people from opening accounts once an account gets charged off by the bank) so the true owner of that SSN would have that on their record. It's a headache to untangle all of that...

He's lawyered up and going over his responses as we speak. Should be a break shortly I'm guessing.

For those of you who think that because you that live in CC are better than those of us who live in RC, it is just in your mind.

county-envy

Really? That's the card you want to play for this story/comments?

If CC residents were half as uptight and snobby as they are made out to be on here at times, I could empathize. But the venom that some RC people have toward CC sounds more like general disatisfaction than observations. If a representative of CC wronged you JRC2024, I would hope the whole county was not judged by that one. If so, I suggest looking deeper. There are good people here.

David, I lived in CC for 10

David, I lived in CC for 10 or more years. I was not unhappy then and am not unhappy living in RC. There are snobby people in both counties. I was just saying that because some on here think that RC is just a bad county. I work both counties and find the people in both counties to be good people.
