About 8:30 a.m., Waynesboro police were dispatched to 11th Street, where they found Mary Lee Crumbley in a dirty alley, Lt. Theodore Jackson said.

The Waynesboro Police Department, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Burke County Coroner’s Office are investigating. The cause of death has not been determined, Jackson said. An autopsy will be performed in Atlanta on Monday.

County Coroner Susan Salemi said the woman is the sister of Linda Crumbley, who was shot and killed in her home on Biltmore Place off Meadowbrook Drive in April. Linda Crumbley’s two children, Mario Crumbley, 33, and Dekrizia Crumbley, 27, were wounded in the shooting.

Police charged Steve Lawrence Allen, 52, of Blythe, with murder, aggravated assault and weapons violations in that case, according to Augusta Chronicle reports.

Salemi said the shooting is not believed to be connected to Mary Lee Crumbley’s death.
