An Augusta man said he was robbed after an acquaintance drove him to an unknown house Saturday morning.

Joshua Carter, 23, of Sand Bar Ferry Road, said he was walking to work when he stopped at the Circle K gas station on Laney-Walker Boulevard and met with a man who goes by the name “Dirt,” a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office report said.

The man offered to drive Carter to work, but instead drove him to a house on 12th Street. Carter said he followed the man into the house and was attacked by two or three unknown men. The men stole Carter’s diamond ring, valued at $185, and more than $300 in cash before leaving the scene.

“Dirt” is described as being more than 6 feet tall with short hair and scars on the back of his head. He is also missing three teeth. He was last seen wearing a white tank top, blue jeans and blue Nike shoes.

Learning

Many learning opportunities here....

Never accept a ride with a man named "Dirt" with a scarred head and missing three teeth.

Never follow a man named "Dirt" into a house on 12th St after being offered a ride to work.

Never walk on Laney Walker with $300 cash and a diamond ring.

Name

It's probably a good thing that they did not publish the name of the so-called victim. It would not be nice to embarrass him.

I wonder what his employer thinks about him now?

My only question is when will

My only question is when will "Dirt's" neighborhood be redeveloped and "Dirt" given Section 8 money and relocation assistance money to move to South Augusta.

Statistics

Will this one go into the crime statistics, or will they sweep it under the rug?

I wonder if he's related to Joe Dirt?

Just being funny, or trying too anyway.

LL, are you asking if they

LL, are you asking if they will sweep "Dirt" under the rug??
I know this has been covered before, but why wouldn't they include the race of Dirt and the other assailants?? I mean, they give other discrptors of Dirt, why not his race to make even more identifiable? And if it'd be considered racially insensitive, what about all the people with head scars that might be offended??

I think there is a lot that

I think there is a lot that is not being told here. If someone was giving one a ride to work, and they made an unplanned stop at an unfamiliar place, wouldn't it be wise to just wait in the car for the driver to return? Unless Mr. Carter had been offered something of value at this "unfamiliar" residence. Sounds like a drug deal that turned into a robbery.
