A motorcycle ride in honor of a deceased Richmond County Sheriff’s deputy will be held Saturday to raise money to purchase ballistic vests for the department.
Heather Hultman, the president of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Wives Auxiliary, said Augusta Harley-Davidson is playing host to the inaugural Alton Creech Memorial Run. It is named in honor of the motorcycle deputy, who died of his injuries in an off-duty motorcycle accident in May.
The benefit will also feature a raffle, a bounce house for children and the Brown Bag food truck, said Augusta Harley-Davidson receptionist Christina Williams. The event will be held at the company’s dealership at 4200 Belair Frontage Rd.
Registration for the poker run will begin at 9 a.m., and the last motorcycle is expected to leave the dealership by 11:30 a.m. Cost is $20 per motorcycle and $5 for passengers.
Williams said the event’s proceeds will go toward the purchase of heavy-duty ballistic vests for the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
