An Augusta man accused of threatening to kill a woman – first with a handgun and later with a machete – pleaded guilty Monday.

Tony Timpson, 41, was sentenced to six years in prison followed by 14 years on probation. The assaults on Latoya Williams occurred Oct. 10 and again Nov. 29.

Timpson previously served prison time for shooting an ex-girlfriend and her stepfather in October 1999. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, and was paroled in 2008.

Glad she will have peace of mind instead of her mind in pieces. What is with all the machete wielding incidents in the last few years? One happened in my old neighborhood that made the paper, too, on a street aptly named after a poisonous plant.
