A 22-year-old man died Wednesday after he fell out of a moving truck driven by his father on Hephzibah-McBean Road.

John Edward Barron Jr., of the 2000 block of McNutt Way, was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, said Richmond County Sheriff’s Sgt. Shane McDaniel.

The driver, John Edward Barron Sr., 54, was charged with driving under the influence, vehicular homicide in the first degree, open container and driving an unsafe vehicle.

According to Richmond County sheriff’s Sgt. Monica Belser, the passenger-side door of the small pickup was broken. The younger Barron, the passenger, was attempting to close the door when he fell out in the 1900 block of Hephzibah-McBean Road around 1:45 p.m.

Two others were in the vehicle at the time.

Sad

and the family will be ripped more than you can ever imagine. I ask my fellow commentators to tread lightly on the reporting of this tragedy. And I thank you in advance. Go jump on the drug dealers and cop haters, but leave this one alone, please. There will be no winners here.

Deadly accident

I believe rebellious knows more than he cares to say - let all of us heed his well meaning advice. And may the young man rest in peace and his family find comfort with the help of God. What a tragic situation.
