Augusta man hospitalized after shooting

Police say a shooting near East Boundary left an Augusta man hospitalized Saturday night.

Police responding to Walker and Sibley streets at about 10:45 p.m. found Julion Tyrone Hamilton, 39, of East Chapman Street, with gunshot wounds to the leg and stomach, a sheriff’s office news release said.

Hamilton was taken to Georgia Re­gents Medical Center for his injuries, which weren’t life-threatening.

Investigators are looking for Jamel Olajuwon Boyd, 17, of East Bullah Street, who is being called a person of interest.

Anyone with information on Boyd’s whereabouts is asked to call the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at (706) 821-1080 or the Criminal Investigation Division at (706) 821-1020.
