The woman told police that Austin Todd Bacheller actually assaulted her twice this week that but she did not report it until about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday after he flew into a drunken rage, punched furniture and stabbed a wall with scissors.
The woman told officers that during an argument hours earlier, Bacheller, 24, had thrown her to the ground and stomped her.
“She also stated that during that argument (Bacheller) had taken her kitten and threw it against the wall,” police said.
The jail listed his home address as Martinez.
An officer asked whether there had been previous incidents. She said that on Monday she and Bacheller were in bed when he used a steak knife to stab the mattress, police said. She said she was afraid she might get stabbed but didn’t call police out of fear that would make him more violent.
Bacheller reportedly was drunk during the earlier incident, too, police said.
On Wednesday morning, the woman told officers she feared Bacheller might post explicit videos of themselves online to retaliate.
After the most recent altercation, Bacheller left her Waddell Street home on foot.
Bacheller was booked into the Clarke County jail on warrants charging him with aggravated assault, animal cruelty and criminal damage to property.
Bacheller has been arrested by various agencies since he was 18 on charges that include battery and DUI. He has been convicted on a marijuana possession charge in Athens-Clarke County State Court, where he currently has a DUI charge pending.
