CEDARTOWN, Ga. — Authorities say they’ve apprehended a man accused of pulling two children out of his vehicle after he crashed it and then leaving the kids at the scene of the wreck.

State patrol spokesman Gordy Wright says one of the children, a 6-year-old boy, later died at a hospital. A 5-year-old girl was seriously injured in the one-car wreck along Tallapoosa Highway near Cedartown Sunday morning.

Wright says a witness told troopers the driver, 42-year-old Robert Nelson Wood of Tallapoosa, pulled two children from the car and ran away.

The state patrol said he was found about three-quarters of a mile from the crash site after a manhunt for him. The girl was being treated at a hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn.

What relationship did the man have to the children? It begs to ask the question as to why they were in his car as well? It would appear that the guy is a scumbag for leaving two badly injured children to fend for themselves and may have contributed to the death of the young boy. Lots of unanswered questions here and not very good reporting.

Why did he leave?

DUI, outstanding warrants or seeking help?
Story has a few holes.
manhunt sound so villainous also.

Yeah, right, he was going for help

Just like George Costanza on that Seinfeld episode where there was a fire at a children's birthday party and he shoved the kids and old ladies out of the way to get to the door and then later claimed he was going for help....
