Deputies dispatched to CPR Cell Phone Repair at 210 Robert C. Daniel Jr. Parkway at 4:14 a.m. found a window had been busted out, a Richmond County sheriff’s report said.

After reviewing video from the store’s surveillance system, deputies found that two men kicked out the window at 2:36 a.m. and stole the items. They were last seen running east on Walton Way Extension.

Among the stolen items were 13 smartphones, two Xbox 360s, two Acer laptops and four Otterbox phone cases.

I think "broken" out would sound a bit better than "busted" out.

I know criminals lack any

I know criminals lack any sense or brain power, but phone stores have records of the serial and ESN of every phone in their inventory. The second someone tries to activate it, the company will see it's a stolen phone...

You would think that is the case but it isn't. There is not a central database for cross checking esn's.

One would think with the huge problem with cellphone thefts, the providers would have long ago set up such a database to check before activating phones not bought at their store.

LittleLamb is so correct and JRC2024 is totally wrong!!!
Unpublished

JRC2024 NO "database," is needed! ANYONE can get a totally FREE app from ITunes or Google Play Store, whichever is applicable, to trace and FIND their stolen item! Obviously the app has to be installed and activated on the device prior to it's theft. You are Wrong!!!!!!!

Apple

I'll bet the NSA knows more about your friend's phone, JRC, than Apple does.

There are no "national"

There are no "national" databases, correct, but each provider has their own for marking ESN's that are registered to them as stolen.
