A Ford Focus overturned at Broad and Seventh streets after being chased by Richmond County sheriff's deputies.

A Richmond County deputy told dispatchers he was pursuing a red Ford Focus traveling about 90 mph on Laney Walker Boulevard, about 10:30 p.m.

The crash happened about 10 minutes later when the Focus, traveling on Seventh Street, hit a black vehicle driving on Broad Street, said witness Reggie Watson, who was standing at the intersection.

“Dude was just coming so fast,” Watson said.

The red Focus flipped about six times before coming to a stop in front of the Wells Fargo building on Seventh Street, Watson said.

“He got out and started to run,” Watson said of the driver. “And the police tased him.”

Authorities told dispatchers that the suspect was in custody after the wreck. The extent of injures was not immediately available.

Emergency personnel in an ambulance also responded to someone lying on the sidewalk in the middle of the 700 block of Broad Street, but it was unclear how that person was injured.

Firefighters were called to the scene for a gas leak caused by the wreck.

Leave ’em laughin’

Okay, RM; you have posted a line that has to be picked up by some Nashville songwriter and put into a hit song:

Lilly, you got to leave ’em laughin’ sometimes.

But these songwriters, they have to modify the lines for maximum effect. I am no poet nor songwriter (although I can pick and grin); but perhaps other posters can ramp up the alliteration in your line, i.e.:

Lilly you got to leave ’em laughin’ loudly.

Let us leave ’em laughin’ loudly, Lilly.

Lilly, let us leave the ladies laughin’.

Anybody else want to try?

My car was hit by a senile

My car was hit by a senile old man in a Walmart parking lot. He hit me twice and didn't even know it.

Well, that means we should close all Walmart parking lots, because I got hit. I also have been hit at a freeway off ramp, a crosswalk, an intersection, a stop sign, and on Peach Orchard Rd.

Close all of them, because I got hurt in those accidents.

But let me point out that the chase began when he ran a red light at an intersection, he was going to get in an accident, no matter what. The police never chase someone who pulls over and stops.
