The suspect died after being caught with what police said was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Richmond County sheriff’s deputies found a man and a woman dead around 4:18 a.m. in the 3600 block of Stanton Court.

A second woman was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center where she was in critical but stable condition as of Sunday afternoon, Sgt. Monica Belser said.

A suspect, identified by police as Cedric Tobias Harris, 31, was captured in McDuffie County. Deputy Coroner John Ansley said he died as a result of his wound around 5:40 a.m.

Authorities say Harris is believed to be the ex-husband of the slain woman.

Investigators say they don’t believe there are other suspects linked to the shooting at this time.

The names of the victims had not been made public Sunday afternoon.

In March 2012, The Chronicle reported that Cedric Tobias Harris was indicted on two counts of aggravated assault.

Can't find a Stanton Drive in

Can't find a Stanton Drive in that subdivision. There is a Stanton Court however. It must say Stanton Drive on the police report. Might even say it on one of the signs, but the map says Stanton Court.

The majority of homicides so

The majority of homicides so far this year seem to be domestic/family disputes.

The article should read 'court' instead of drive.

Too Sad

Women who are murdered usually die at home at the hands of a family member. This should not be. Home should be the safest place.

He was not "Caught" or

He was not "Caught" or "Captured" at all!! When deputies went to his house, he pulled up to the house while they were there. Upon seeing the patrol cars at the house; he took his own life while still sitting in the driver's seat. He was never in any custody at all.

Sad?

If what I read on FB is true, not only sad for the victims and their families, but a big black eye to the justice system. If TRUE what I read, this guy was already in the system for DV but had a wrist slap with probation. They are saying that if the judge had done his job with this guy, those people would still be alive. I don't know, just relaying what those that know him say.

One of the reasons

Why women stay with abusers..the police can't be everywhere 24/7.

That is a good thing. HA

That is a good thing. HA would not put herself in an abusive situation, let alone stay in it.

Gun control only keeps guns out of the hands of honest law abiding citizens... criminals will always have guns.

Example where gun control was not working?

The gun didn't kill anyone. The person pulling the trigger killed these people. This is an example where our justice system is not working.

If this man was already in

If this man was already in trouble for domestic violence, why was he on the street again. There are too many times when a family member who commits DV will eventually kill his/her family member(s).

Some of our judges who make the decision to just give parole or a short sentence and parole need to be replaced. Maybe if we knew the political affiliation of these judges, we could make better choices at election time.

I realize in trial by jury cases, the judge is somewhat limited. But the evidence he allows and disallows and the objections that are overruled or sustained, for more personal than legal reasons, sometimes sway juries one way or the other. (Not an accusation, just observations from my younger days working in law offices).

Everyone who is called to serve on a jury should serve, period. We have a problem with jurists often times ending up being what's left over after voir dire. A lot of times they are the out-of-touch elderly, the sympathetic types or ones who feel guilty about giving the defendant what he/she really deserves.
