LILBURN, Ga. — Police are continuing to investigate why a pickup truck left the road outside Atlanta and struck and killed a woman and a child as they stood on a sidewalk in an Atlanta suburb.

Their bodies were found around 6:45 p.m. Thursday in a grassy area beside the sidewalk, near Calvary Baptist Church in Lilburn.

Lilburn police say the driver of the pickup tried passing another vehicle and lost control of the truck. Authorities say the driver fled the scene but was later arrested.

Capt. Thomas Bardugon says the driver is expected to face charges. The suspect’s name and the names of the victims have not been released.

Lilburn is about 20 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta.

"Authorities say the driver fled the scene

.
Why do these guys (and women) almost always run? Until you know for certain, there is always a chance that you could save a life by standing by and calling 911 if you do nothing else.

Yeah, I know that alcohol is usually involved, but then so is a human life.
